£1 auctions

Post by Tigerlily » 2 months ago

I have though for a while that there was something not quite above board on the £1 auctions and now I am convinced. Was looking through and saw a ring I like and as it was ending in a few minutes decided to bid.I was shown as the winning bidder and decided to watch as the clock counted down. The clock froze continually and seemed to count down in blocks of 7 seconds but I continued to be shown as the winning bidder right until the auction ended when mysteriously I had been outbid. The person supposedly outbidding me is currently shown as the winning bidder on no fewer than 11 rings on just one page alone.Seems just a little odd to me.If these auctions and bids are genuine we should be able to see a list of won items and all the bids accociated with them.

I myself and many others have been complaining about this for ages, personally I think the auctions are preprogrammed. The same things are happening to very many people. I think,TJC have given up even pretending that it's above board now. To add insult to injury I am swamped on a daily basis with mails advertising them. Surely fixing auctions is illegal.

I’m the same I “won” a ring earlier today and just went to pay my account, as I have a few extra items, but the ring is not showing in my pay now section, even though it shows the winning auction was £183 and clearly shows my bid as £183. Also the code GET10 says it can’t be applied at this time. Not a happy bunny! I’ve taken screenshots for all the good it will do.

I think it's high time someone contacted the financial ombudsman about how this business is run. I'm on it!
TjC need they're behind kicked good and hard. The bidding is managed so absolutely zero chance of obtaining a bargain. Start worrying tjc, believe me you should be shaking in your shoes!

Just had a quick look at the auction....what's going on, a lot of items are bidded up way higher than they sell for from the tjc shop. I have seen this happen but its usually on an odd item here n there but there's quite a lot and that was just on a quarter of a page .... needless to say i was on about 10 seconds and back off😳....who's bidding these ridiculous amounts i wonder and do they actually pay for them? The same items are constantly being put up so it's hard to tell if it's non paying bidders or overstock but at the prices i just seen, you could actually go and buy same thing from tjc or elsewhere for much cheaper. I actually used to really like the £1 auction, but i thought the other day this is pretty pointless now and I'm simply wasting my time and effort, so i have stopped bidding on anything now. I decided, if i want or need something, I'll buy it from tjc shop or elsewhere as all i was winning was costume jewellery which i won't even wear, they don't exactly resemble the photos shown, but even then I ended up paying way more than the items are worth due to constantly being outbid. Its a waste of time and money really.
